:)Bethany and Randy - Getting Together and Wedding :)

RandB at the Tivoli to see The Birds

We met at the wonderful Tivoli Theatre in University City as part of the Tuesday Talkies film discussion group in the fall of 1999. I noticed her insightful commentary on the cinema, character development and film craft. She was smitten by my knowledge of John Sayles' work and keen fashion sense (as hard as it is to believe, I'm not kidding). After a couple of the group's meetings, I gave her my email address and a few days later she invited me to the Symphony's Christmas concert. The only time we haven't seen each other for more than a day since than, has been when I've been out of town. There has been an easy comfort between us from the start.

Back in September 2000, with things going along so well, we decided to move in together, giving us two of every kitchen and bathroom need.

On Mardi Gras 2001 we agreed to make our lives whole again by joining each other in marital bliss. Yep, that's right we've agreed to give up bachelor/maiden-hood not just for Lent but the rest of our days (not that living together didn't really put the ka-boosch on that anyway). It wasn't too big of a surprise for Bethany since we picked out the engagement ring together from Hud, the pool hall jeweler (kind of like TV's "Ed", the bowling alley lawyer). It really looks big even without a magnifying glass when digitized.

We tied the knot on 22 September 2001 at the Hawken House in Webster Groves. The Hawken House is the former home of the son of the maker of the Hawken rifle, THE gun of choice for fur trappers in the 1830s. Currently, it's the home of the Webster Groves Historical Society.

The wedding was a sectarian ceremony that Bethany and Randy prepared themselves. The nuptials were presided over by a friend of the family who is a judge.

If you're interested on the true skinny on the gossip, buzz and scandals you've been hearing but were afraid to ask on the wedding, check out the Official Wedding Rumor Page.

The dinner consisted of catered pizza, toasted ravioli, salad (with Thai Peanut Salad Dressing) and yummy cake from Lake Forest Bakery.

As for other refreshments, we brewed 15 gallons of beer for the occasion (Tuxedo Park's very own "Union Amber Ale" and "One"). There was also much wine consumed (merlot and chardonnay), various colors of soda, and coffee with dessert. If you ever need about a hundred dinner plates, salad plates, wine glasses etc. talk to us; we know a place where you just might be able to borrow some...

Bethany took the Curtis surname and would prefer to be know as: Bethany S. Curtis (Sage is now her middle name). As for the both of us, Randy and Bethany Curtis or Bethany and Randy Curtis will do. (R&B Curtis works too.)
